Building Interactive Fiction Tools for Authors, Players, and Everyone Else

Please join us this Saturday, October 2nd, in welcoming Dan Fabulich, creator of the scripting language ChoiceScript and co-founder of Choice of Games. ChoiceScript is an easy-to-use scripting language for writing multiple-choice interactive fiction games (in the style of "Choose Your Own Adventure") -- a form which has proven to be extremely accessible both to authors and players. Out in the wild, authors with all levels of programming and game design experience are using ChoiceScript today to develop interactive fiction.  Dan will give a short talk about designing a scripting language for non-programmers, the strengths of the multiple choice form of interactive fiction, and the future of this format.

The talk will begin at 3pm on October 2nd, at the Digital Arts Research Center, room 206.  The doors will be open at 2:45.  Please plan on arriving 5 - 10 minutes early so that the talk can start on time. Reception* to follow from 4pm - 6pm in the Light Lab.  (Regular members of the SF Bay Area Interactive Fiction meetup are expected to be in attendance).

Parking is available in paid spaces outside the DARC building.  There is a flat all-day weekend rate of (I believe) $3.
