narrative description
- 10-15 sq. ft space, possibility of breaking up stations into different areas
- audio
- Three small stations with network.
- G5 computer with monitor, preferably at least 20'
- another computer (mini?)
Will Justice
- 2 projectors
- 2 computers (monitor may be necessary for only one of them)
- 2 audio systems
- enough cables to have both computers project and play sound
- 3 to 4 walls
- an internet connection
- possibly other smaller computer stations that can view the internet
Luci Kagaya
- 2 audio speakers and the M-Audio 410
- An interactive sound installation in an enclosed space. -- with sound isolation
- The soundscape will be triggered with infrared sensors placed in 3-5 "stations."
- Mac laptop (MBP) with Max/MSP
- Infrared sensors
- Arduino board
- floor pillows (and a chair or two) to seat 5-10 people
- electrical connections
What happens:
Guests walk into the installation space. There are 3 to 5 "stations" that have infrared sensors built in to them. Infrared sensors trigger certain layers in the soundscape. There will always be a subtle layer of sound going on, even if the infrared sensors are not triggered. This allows guests to sit down and simply listen in the “observation space” (on the pillows) at the middle of the installation. There should be enough space for 5-10 people to sit in the middle of the room, while other people walk around and explore the stations.

Installation dimensions: 40’x40’ space

Technical needs (somewhat negotiable):
- Reasonably fast (G5 or ideally Core Duo) Mac workstation
- Loopable DVD Player (or another computer capable of smoothly playing high quality video media)
- Video Projector
- A nice wall to project onto
- A reasonably sound-isolated space + two speakers
- Flatscreen monitor
- A desk or table
- At least two pairs of Headphones + and headphone amp
- A MIDI keyboard (which I can provide if necessary)
- at least 10x10' of space
Description:
There are two parts to this installation – the most conspicuous part will be documentational, projecting a DVD movie (or comparable video format) onto the wall that illustrates the design and execution of the live performance I'll be putting on in May. The audio track of this movie should be played over the speakers.
On the table, ideally situated across from the video projection, will be a fast Mac workstation, flatscreen monitor, at least two headphones/amp, and a MIDI keyboard. This station will give viewers the opportunity to play with technology used in the show hands-on, without disturbing the viewability or continuity of the documentation.
