Technical Needs:

One projector, a space that allows for rear back projection, three body size screens (that I will build), that might be hanging from the ceiling, audio equipment with two speakers, one sensor that will be installed on one of the screens and that will activate the audio and the visuals on one screen through a Max/MSP patch.

What happens: Guests walk into the installation space. There are 3 to 5 "stations" that have infrared sensors built in to them. Infrared sensors trigger certain layers in the soundscape. There will always be a subtle layer of sound going on, even if the infrared sensors are not triggered. This allows guests to sit down and simply listen in the “observation space” (on the pillows) at the middle of the installation. There should be enough space for 5-10 people to sit in the middle of the room, while other people walk around and explore the stations.

Technical needs (somewhat negotiable):

Description:

There are two parts to this installation – the most conspicuous part will be documentational, projecting a DVD movie (or comparable video format) onto the wall that illustrates the design and execution of the live performance I'll be putting on in May. The audio track of this movie should be played over the speakers.

On the table, ideally situated across from the video projection, will be a fast Mac workstation, flatscreen monitor, at least two headphones/amp, and a MIDI keyboard. This station will give viewers the opportunity to play with technology used in the show hands-on, without disturbing the viewability or continuity of the documentation.
