The Digital Arts and New Media Master of Fine Arts program at the University of California - Santa Cruz brings together faculty and students from across the academic spectrum to pursue interdisciplinary artistic and scholarly research and practice.
The two-year program includes a series of core courses, the opportunity to take electives across the UCSC campus, and participation in collaborative research project groups with DANM faculty. Our project groups engage in artistic, technical and theoretical research in one of four focused areas: Mechatronics, Participatory Culture, Performative Technologies, and Playable Media, and culminate in publication or exhibition. Degree candidates develop a thesis project which is presented in the annual MFA Exhibition and produce a thesis paper.
Completion of the program results in a terminal degree in Art, qualifying graduates to teach at the university level.
