Dustin's project, the Neighborhood Salon is a relational piece that brings together local residents in the blocks surrounding the artist's home. The meetings are loosely organized around the idea that local inhabitants presenting different aspects of their vocations and interests. In looking at the documentation, it was apparent that the participants were wary at first, but soon became enthusiastic about the meeting, and hopefully will build momentum for the project. I think that the project is initially successful and that it has a lot of room to grow and represent different parts of the community and also to increase in scope and take on a life of its own, possibly redefining itself along the way.
