Discussion about the palabras organization:

• Do a workshop with all of us as organization/participatory culture group/danm/etc...
• what will we document in our workshop?
• How do we show participatory culture?

Last week, why didn't this project get funded by Mac Arthur?? because we undermine the status quo.

• Participatory Culture- what are we not participating in?

  1. How can we represent the participation of the alternative?
  2. What is culture?
  3. What do we mean by collective self-representation?
  4. Projects like Palabras and others like it that try to solve political problems through software are inherently flawed.
  5. What do we mean by marginalized communities? Who is marginalized? Questions of othering? How can palabras serve the other? and the other's communities. It is problematic to define what's marginal.

• Explore collaboration and self representation?

Collective self-representation and how does the individual interact with the project.

• Tension: action and theory

• Ideas for Workshops:

  1. We are a community, there is only one node and one group.
  2. We are going to use an improvisation tecqnique to examine among ourselves what is the premise about palabras.

• Issues for our Workshops:

  1. Identity in terms of individual and community.
  2. How do we think of ourselves about individuality.
  3. Collective self-representation.

Palabras as an Organization:

• multiple models for pursuing empowerment through collective self-representation.
• inter-operability:
• workshops, actions, principles and tools.
