Please be respectful while using the list. Everyone should feel comfortable using the email lists for appropriate purposes. And one of the best ways to ensure good usage is to use some common sense and help identify to the receivers what the email is about in the subject line, so, if they want to skip it they can.
Here are some suggested "categories" of subject line.

Keep in mind that reading the subject of every message from the mailing list is essential to determine if the message is important to read or not.
Some people will send a lot of news, opportunities and the like and once in a while they will send a very important message about a deadline or some such. Make sure you read the important emails. Here is a quick note: Felicia normally sends the extra email stuff using the front desk email of "danm", and uses her personal email address for the important-to-read emails.
If you are a member of the list you can send to the list. People have multiple email addresses, so sometimes sending from one of your emails will require someone to approve your email. In this case you will receive a "message pending approval" message - don't worry if we recognize you we will add you to the "approved sender" list and then you can send from either of your emails.
The Faculty list is more restricted to receiving email, but please do use it if you would like the faculty to know about what you are sending.... hehe. Non-faculty list member emails will be moderated by the DANM staff and you will receive a "pending approval" message - just be patient, if we reject your message we will tell you and inform you as to why we rejected it.
We once had mailing lists for each class: "danm-students10", "danm-students07" - based on the year they started. These lists are still around but we discourage their use directly as we do not keep them up-to-date.
