I have lived with various Australian Parakeets (Budgerigars and Bourke's) for more than 10 years. All of the birds have unique personalities. My longest-lived companion, Io, is 11 years old. He is a Bourke's parakeet, a type of grass parakeet. He has a companion, Phoebe, who is 1.5 y old.

Fred and Lea
Fred was a female Blue and Gold Macaw who lived in Boulder Creek. This was the first time I met Fred, and we got along fabulously. Unfortunately, months later, the owner was careless and left Fred's cage in a place that was accessible to Racoons. Don't ever do this. What a sad ending to this magnificent bird's life.
