Discussion of the Analysis Paper (DUE NEXT TUESDAY, in class)
- Title Page
- Introductory Paragraph with identification of the article and your thesis statement. Example thesis statement: {I will argue that} Matos presents clear and convincing evidence that the Templo Mayor was the most important structure in Tenochtitlan and, as such, was enlarged several times over a two hundred year period.
- A clear statement of the topic/problem addressed by the author
- A concise summary of the author's conclusions.
- The characterization of the intended audience and how that affected the style and presentation (if at all). Look at source books or journal.
- An identification and discussion of the kinds of evidence used (iconographic? ethnographic? archaeological?); provide CONCRETE illustrations to support your identification of evidence, and demonstrate that you know what constitutes that type of evidence.
- A comparison of the author's conclusions with those of other scholars.
- A reasoned evaluation of the evidence, method, arguments and conclusions. State your position clearly even if it is ambivalent. (this should be the largest section of your paper)
- A bibliography or "works cited" page, formatted according to MLA style.
