As part of my thesis project, I used birdsong to compose a 3-part musical composition.
In the first part, Layered Dawn Chorus, I layered nature sound recordings from two different ecosystems, which I recorded in June, 2007, while attending a Nature Sound Society Workshop. Both were recorded at dawn near the Yuba Pass, in the High Sierra Nevada Mountains, California. One layer was from a valley wetland, Sierra Valley. The other was from a forest at the Yuba Pass.

In the second part, Becoming Bird, I use my voice and convert the human sound to bird sound.

In the third part, Six Birdsong Remix, I took 6 individual birdsongs and converted them to a human musical composition.

The second was an installation in San Jose at the mfa exhibition on june 4-8, 2008. It was performed in a small dark room, with visuals to accompany each part of the program. There were printed concert programs.
