• Each critical analysis should consist of the following

  • Formal critique/Aesthetic critque

    Shape, color, line, value, weight, light, screen use, contrast, texture, tonality, dissonance, haromony, etc.

  • Conceptual critique

    Idea, meaning, goal, purpose, vision, story, coherence, consistency, logic, engagement, inspiration, impact, etc.

  • Historical critque

    Place in the history of art, conversation with other artists, direct and indirect influences, comparable works, relation to history of practices, relation to history of materials, etc.

  • Functional critque

    Practicality, craftsanship, location, lighting, mechanical concerns, cost, production, schedule, etc.

  • Social/Political critique

    Ideology, relations of power presupposed, relations of power within the work, relation with audience, social dynamic, etc.
