Chris Girard has attended and collaborated on this course from Spring 2009 to Winter 2010.

Archived Research

Updates on various topics of research will vary, but the latter weeks (5 and upwards) offer information gathered for research and data on specific vegan and non-vegan ingredients and more general aspects of products during the Spring and Fall 2009 quarters. The Fall 2009 quarter consists of updates to the Social Cost Tracker website. The Winter 2010 quarter will wrap up the project and gear it toward the Zero 1 event.

I reconfigured Kyle's survey monkey survey, linked here:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JCBVSJ8

The survey is altered and ready for use. The questions hopefully sound more clear and season is replaced with statement, etc. If there are any other suggestions, it can easily be altered but otherwise should be ready for use. The survey can be used as a template for the sliders.

In regards to a script:

I presumed the first intro/question would ask what the participant is angry about.

"Hi. Welcome to the Social Cost Tracker! The information you give us might be used for an upcoming project that explores the social cost of clothing. We're asking participants to spare a few minutes to be recorded on camera and take a survey. Shall we continue?"

If yes:

"First question. What makes you angry?"

The second question would be something along the lines of "Second question. Take a moment to contemplate the clothes you're wearing. How could one article of clothing you're currently wearing demonstrate this anger?" If none/no connection: "Okay. Thank you. My third question is: Why not?"

Segue into taking the survey: "Thank you for answering these questions. In order for us to find out what's important for you in choosing the clothes that you wear, we'd like for you to take this survey (at the next booth?) and order your preferences from the given categories. Let's (move to the next booth? and) set you up on a computer. (Set them up on a computer)"

"You may begin the survey. Once you've finished, you're free to leave. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask one of us."

(See Survey.)

What is your name?

In what order do you choose your clothes?

animal rights, child labor, comfort, country of origin, durability, environmental devastation, fashion statement, gender performance, human rights, professionalism, sex appeal
