Technology is built on other technology; simplicity is rare. Oh, and computers are stupid.
Last week we covered a bit about the front half of the web. This week we are playing with what the web server can do for you and your work.
We will make two
php documents: list_images.php which will return a text document listing all of the images in the directory it is placed in and upload_images.php which will allow a person to upload an image using a web browser.
While planing this class session I realized that including a database example would make the class too complicated for a two and a half hour class.
Open a tab.
For this week's class we need two tools:
A good Text Editor
TextPad (Windows)
Toco HTML Edit (Macintosh)
Bluefish (Linux and Macintosh) - need fink to install
PHPEclipse or
download PHPEclipse (Macintosh, Windows, OS X)A good SFTP client
