Embrace This

Technology is built on other technology; simplicity is rare. Oh, and computers are stupid.

This Week, the server

Last week we covered a bit about the front half of the web. This week we are playing with what the web server can do for you and your work.

We will make two php documents: list_images.php which will return a text document listing all of the images in the directory it is placed in and upload_images.php which will allow a person to upload an image using a web browser.

What, No Database?

While planing this class session I realized that including a database example would make the class too complicated for a two and a half hour class.

A browser trick

Tools

For this week's class we need two tools:

  1. A good Text Editor

  2. A good SFTP client

Assignments

  1. Make your own list_images.php.
  2. Make your own upload_images.php.
  3. Connect last week's Processing slide show to point to your list_images.php. Check out the new Processing Publishing page to learn how to put your slide show up.
  4. Add a link (to your slideshow) to the danm210/projects page.

If you need help please ask me. -- lyle.
