I stumbled onto this blog entry (from 2007) about how Microsoft was experimenting w/ barcode scanning for their smartphone... and their solution to the fixed focus lens issue at that time was a little aftermarket macro-lens that suction-cups onto the phone... eliminates fuzzy. Not a solution for us in the long-run, but would get us over that (technical) hurdle for now, right? -kyle
