InSTEDD InSTEDD is an open source collaboration for early detection and early response to crises (medical, disease, natural disasters)... of especial interest might be their geochat, which allows users to plot SMS msgs on maps. Might be useful for Community Watch Services (instead of calling the cops, let your community know what's happening on the corner). Emphasizes persistent anonymity (such that users can remain anonymous but generate trust/ authority based on reliability of previous posts).


kiwanjaKiwanja is a service that helps folks use SMS to update websites, etc. about political/ humanitarian crises... Non-profits in over forty countries have so far benefited from a range of kiwanja initiatives, including FrontlineSMS and nGOmobile.
