!Bio
G. Craig Hobbs’ work addresses themes at the intersection of nature, culture, and technology in the mediums of video, sound, and interactive programming. Hobbs’ writing focuses on issues of embodiment, affect, time, and space in new media art. His artwork explores the use of metadata tagging, infrared computer vision, and open-source software for use in live cinema, locative media, and installation environments.

Hobbs is currently a Research Associate in the Digital Arts and New Media MFA program at UC Santa Cruz and teaches in the critical studies program at the [California College of the Arts|http://www.cca.edu] (CCA) in San Francisco. He is the recipient of a 2009-2010 [UC Institute for Research in the Arts| http://www.ucira.ucsb.edu/] Emerging Fields grant award for his thesis research _In Situ &#8710; ~ The Embodied Search._ His theoretical writing has been presented at [Harvard University | http://objectsofknowledge.org] and will be published in the proceedings of the [DAC09: Digital Arts and Culture 2009|http://dac09.uci.edu/] conference at UC Irvine.
