the basic tenet this project aims to address is the conscious construction of glamour and how it relates to beauty. the prototype consists of a large-scale installation piece where a series of publicity and movie stills are combined with moving images and then projected onto a three-dimensional surface in order to provide a focus for the visual distortion. the film incorporates all aspects of the construction of greta garbo as a glamour icon and how this new idea of glamour then overshadowed the earlier beauty ideals of hollywood. by projecting this film onto an urban/three-dimensional surface, the focal point shifts from being about the composition of the images and instead addresses how the perception of society, in regards to beauty and glamour, is distorted.
do you think that there needs to be a certain sound cue in order to fully comprehend the visual images being projected?

no, i don't think so. i like silence but does it have a meaning to have it silent for you? what does silence mean vs a cue?
the aspect of silence tends to illicit an atmosphere of people being uncomfortable when there is a complete absence of sound. and i would like to explore that uncomfortable feeling further. the idea of keeping the film silent and not imposing any sound was something that i think allows for the natural sound of the environment come through. i am looking forward to exploring this kind of relationship further by projecting the visuals onto different spaces that come with their own inherent soundtrack. as well as the idea of a cue, i was looking to have some sort of sound that would combine with the visual images to illicit the feeling of glamour/beauty.
