“In the Mind’s Eye” is an interactive audio installation where Interactors are invited to manipulate certain objects and place them on a central surface. Doing so, in a space designed like a XVI century cabinet of curiosities, one will trigger a story that is told through speakers. The story will be related to the placed object, just like human memory recalls events and situations based on an object, a smell or a sound. The latter fact makes “In the Mind’s Eye” a work of art that can address each and everyone. Even though it uses technology, the show doesn’t come from it (unlike a certain amount of interactive installations). The spectacle resides more in the stories, the set and the objects than in the technology. In this piece, there will be also a certain level of collaboration as people will have to work together by not overcharging the audio if they want the stories to be intelligible.
Breaking the current trend of producing real-time reactive objects/spaces, Cyber-Mediated Landscapes is a unique project that uses the technology as a matter provider. Through a diverse range of sensors, a mobile unit - set in a site - will store samples of data on a regular basis for a defined amount of time. These numbers are then interpreted by the artist who will write a site specific software to generate 2D visuals based on the data recovered by the unit. Thus, the work in this piece is challenging as software will be written for each site. More important, it is very original. The hybrid approach where technology works along with the artist to produce a piece of art will probably reach any audience.
“Embodiment” is an audio-visual (minimally) interactive installation. The audience is invited to discover the world of words, sound and meaning of sentences when lexical alterations occur on existing poetry works. This technique is used as a generator of surprise and supported by a video collage, as the artist wants to offer more than just the audio part. Given the author’s background, this project is a perfect match and will be design with a great attention. An interesting element of the proposal is the debate the artist wants to engage within the audience. Hence the work's purpose in not only to be observed, witnessed and critiqued. It is a deeper work that will open doors to people to discuss the very core of it.
