Week #1
Ralph Abrams
Ralph explained his Electronic Sheep project in relation to the evolution of math. He then posed the question "So why about art and math". There was no actual question, but a jumping off point - a point of exploration. And the point was a point similar to the pinpoint in his electronic sheep project, a point measured at three points (not two). The third point being as abstract as it was infinite.
If I had to break down the intersection of three lines, in the context of art, it would look like this. The third intersection is post modern space, and the intersection of two is the place where the equal sign exists, at perfect balance, or rightness, or old math as Ralph put it.
My concept of "Why Art and Math" was simple. One is the left eye, the other the right eye. When they work, they intrinsically and exponentially weld together as one incredible and harmonious magical thing, that is much bigger than the sum of the two parts.
