Rupa is an artist currently working towards her MFA in Digital Arts/New Media at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Rupa's artwork incorporates a mixture of audio, video, and specially created hardware for the synthesis and manipulation of the audio and video. Her main focus is on experimenting with current technologies to create new methods of generating audio and visuals. She is especially concerned with finding ways to utilize objects which are not obviously associated with making music and visuals. She is concentrating on modifying and manipulating stigmatized objects and media, such as sex toys and pornographic films, in order to create artistic audio/visual installations and instruments for lighting and sound generation. Rupa's objective is to inspire other artists and musicians to experiment with objects and media they would not normally associate with their practices, no matter what the conventional uses of that object are. Her ultimate goal is to persuade people to view objects and media that have already been imprinted upon as blank canvases waiting to be reshaped and reinvented.

Rupa's previous experiences lie exclusively in the audio and computer programming fields. She received a Bachelor of Science in Music Technology (Audio Systems) at London Metropolitan University in 2006, where she acquired her engineering, electronics, and programming skills. Whilst there, she authored several stand-alone computer programs for audio manipulation and synthesis. She has also spent over two years working in London radio stations as a sound engineer, DJ, and producer. During her time in London, she forged relationships with several international electronic musicians, leading to several collaboration projects resulting in experimental electronic music compositions, the creation of a pulse-based software synthesizer, and the formation of the Max Patch Band (a group of internationally based individuals who plan to create music in real-time using the Max/MSP programming environment).
