I am currently attempting to construct a functional, real time "Tao is up Stockticker" in reference to a quote from Maxine Hong Kingston's novel Tripmaster Monkey wherein the protagonist hears ‘Dow is up’ as 'Tao is up' or the spiritual Dow, Tao. This is followed by an elaboration, envisioning a society which charted spiritual progress in the way that we chart economic ones. I'd like the 'Tao is up Stockticker' to draw from real-time information sources such as stock information and human development index projections that will be renamed to units of ‘spiritual measurement’ based on the seven deadly sins and heavenly virtues.

Sin (market)

• The Sin Market and its Industries are to draw real-time information predominantly from stockmarket securities.

Virtue (market)

• The Virtue Market and its Industries are to be based on projected statistics predominantly from Human Development Index (HDI) statistics from Human Develop Reports (HDR).

Sin Pages

• Again, each industry will feature a somewhat fitting quote from the novel.

• Sin Pages should act as stock-like profiles assessing their daily state and showing the actual stocks of which they are comprised.

Virtue Pages

• Likewise, Virtue Pages are to act as stock-like profiles that express the daily change, how it gets calculated, and the information sources that it draws from.

• 1. If imaginable, what kind of value can you find here and from your point of view, what most engages you individually, if it does that at all? If it did not engage you, try to specifically identify why?
• 2. The design was an attempt to be faithful to a number of things, what strikes you as something that could be improved, visually or conceptually, that is, without changing the idea?
