DANM program revision begins; recruitment paused for Fall 2023

Tuesday, October 18, 2022 - 12:00am

After embarking on an evaluation of the DANM program via a self study in 2021 and external review in 2022, the DANM Principal Faculty will undertake a structural and curricular revision of the program in Fall 2022 and Winter 2023. This will be a transparent and inclusive process that will engage the DANM Executive Committee, Affiliate Faculty, students, and other stakeholders in the Arts Division and campus at large.

At the recommendation of the External Review Committee, DANM Principal Faculty and Dean of the Arts, the UCSC Graduate Council has approved DANM to pause admissions for Fall of 2023 as this revision work unfolds. The DANM Director will submit a a written report to the Dean, Graduate Council, and other campus stakeholders by March 30th 2023, outlining the scope of proposed changes for the future directions and continuation of the program and its curriculum. Following a review of that March submission, Graduate Council will provide instructions for updates to the 2023-24 program statement, catalog copy, and the status of Fall 2024 admissions cycle.

If you are a student or faculty member with any questions about the review process, please contact DANM Director Karlton Hester hesteria@ucsc.edu
