gene felice (danm '14) wins award at the 2013 graduate student research symposium!

Oceanic Scales by Gene Felice II (DANM '14) won an "Alumni's Choice" award at the UCSC Graduate Student Research Symposium on Friday, May 10. Tyrus Miller, Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies was especially interested in the project, as well as one of the judges who pulled Gene over after the event to tell him how much she enjoyed his presentation.

Gene writes, "It was a great day of learning about other grad students research and I found several new potential partners. One research project was dedicated to tracking down all the anthropogenic sources of nitrogen from groundwater sources into the ocean that creates algal blooms. Another deals with the genetics behind bioluminescence. I look forward to collaborating with them all in the near future and hopefully bringing some of their research into our project. Thanks again everyone for your hard work in making this project come together as a truly interdisciplinary project here at UCSC."
