Please join us for this year's virtual Miranda Joseph Endowed Lecture with Dr. micha cárdenas of Performance, Play and Design on her book Poetic Operations: Trans of Color Art in Digital Media

About the faculty:

micha cárdenas, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Art & Design: Games + Playable Media, and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies here at UCSC. She directs the Critical Realities Studio, a hybrid studio/lab that uses multiple realities, in art, to address critical global issues including climate change, racism and gendered violence.

About the book:

Her book, Poetic Operations, proposes algorithmic analysis as a method for developing a trans of color poetics. Poetic Operations learns from women of color feminism to articulate an algorithmic method of analysis and propose new operators of thought and action to work for the survival of trans people of color. By using algorithmic analysis to consider artworks that contribute to safety for trans people of color, the survival strategies of these communities can be perceived, which constitute a trans of color poetics: a repertoire of poetic operations.

We hope to see you all there in celebration of micha's amazing work!
