The artists of UC Santa Cruz's "Mechatronics-Performative Technologies" project group invite you to join them in examining a site: the Davenport Cement Plant. This defunct processing facility, in active operation from 1906 until closure in 2010, has served as a place of monumental and historic changes. The efforts of the plant are forever carved into the landscape of Bonny Doon, Davenport, and surrounding areas, and are rebuilt into the structures of San Francisco, Pearl Harbor, and the Panama Canal. In manifesting this investigation as an interactive installation, we ask participants to engage with the timelines and events that embody this site.
